After all that 'House move / Christmas / New Year' stuff, I had got myself very PIANA rusty - Linux rusty, Pi rusty, typing rusty, iOS rusty, everything rusty. So much like Ron and Russell I got in the swing today, rebuilt PIANA for all 3 platforms (Mac / iOS / Pi), was satisfied that I'm back in control, then lost control immediately by picking up a soldering iron and getting mighty sidetracked ... but anyway, after the sidetracking I now have a PIANA plus MIDI interface built out of a Humble Pi, and once it starts working (tomorrow I shall relearn how to use my pocket oscilloscope!) it will be triple cool.
It's way nicer that all that breadboard / tin of mints / piece of plywood nonsense from the pre-Cambrian days of 2012 - I mean, check out the Humbleface -
compared with the woody hackiness of this -
and the minty, tinny stickiness of this -
Definitely the Humble Pi version of the MIDI interface is a big winner. Now to build a half dozen of them, as I am aiming to construct a PIANA chamber orchestra - another harebrained scheme that I concocted today ...
